HOSEA 4:6

[6] My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because thou hast rejected knowledge[1847], I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest [3547] to Me; seeing thou hast forgotten the TORAH [8451] of thy God, I also will forget thy children.”

What did JESUS say about the Hebrew Scriptures?

  1. He often quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures
  2. He commands us to observe the traditions in the Hebrew Scriptures

Matthew 5:17-20

[17 ] “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
[18 ] For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
[19 ] Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [20 ] For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 23:1-3

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,
[2] “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves on the chair of  Moses,
[3] so do and observe [5083] whatever they tell you—but not what they do. For they say, but they do not do.

#5083  tey’rey’o        to attend to carefully, to keep, to hold fast, observe

What is the Seat of Moses?

Recent Archaeological finds have discovered a literal chair in early synagogues.
It is believed that the Rabbis when teaching from the Torah sat in this chair, as a symbol of authority – AS MOSES.

Luke 24:44-45

[44] Now HE said to them, “These are MY words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about ME in the LAW OF MOSES and the PROPHETS and the PSALMS must be fulfilled.
[45] Then HE opened their minds to understand the Scriptures

Hebrew Scriptures are designed to form the FOUNDATION of our Knowledge.
Ø      The Lens through which we view the “world”
